Male

  • Epididymis is the temporary storage of the sperm and the muscles in it contract to ejaculate sperms.
  • Sperm Duct transports sperms from the Epididymis to the Urethra.
  • Glands produce seminal fluid, which is alkaline to neutralize the acidity in the female reproductive tract, activates sperms by causing them to move freely, and nourishes sperms with nutrients.
  • Penis is to insert it into the vagina when erected.

Female

  • Ovary  produce female gametes ( ova ) and female sex hormones.
  • Oviduct delivers mature ovum from the Ovary to the Uterus (Function), and has Cilia (lining along the Oviduct) to move ovum along the Oviduct, and has muscular strong contractions (adaptations).
  • Uterus is muscular and elastic, to push foetus out during birth.
  • Endometrium is soft and smooth, preparing for the implantation of fertilized egg.
